Cover Brothers sells made-to-order spa and pool-cover products that require customers to work through more than a simple size or color choice. The public storefront includes guided product builders for custom spa covers, swim-spa covers, rolling covers, replacement covers, and solar blankets.
End Everything Studios provided white-label Shopify development support for a custom product-builder experience that uses Shopify Liquid, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON-backed product relationships, and app-managed product option fields to guide configuration while still submitting valid Shopify product-form data.
Technical Highlights
Relational JSON Outside Shopify Variants
The theme exposes make-and-model data through product metafields, including a brands/models JSON payload used by the builder. JavaScript reads that data to populate model choices and connect selected models to measurement and option behavior that would be difficult to model with variants alone.
Liquid-Generated Builder Structure
Product templates render product-specific builder markup, hidden product-form fields, product data, and custom assets. Different product templates load different control scripts for custom spa covers, swim-spa covers, rolling covers, and related option workflows.
JavaScript State and Form Synchronization
The custom scripts track selections, show and hide builder steps, copy values into properties[...] fields, trigger product-option recalculation, and keep the visible interface connected to Shopify cart submission.
Multiple Builder Variants
The live storefront shows related builder patterns across custom spa covers, custom swim-spa covers, swim-spa rolling covers, replacement covers, and solar blanket products. Each page adapts the option set to the product being configured.
