Sisters on the Fly: Turning a Photoshop Design Into a Complete Responsive WordPress Experience

A full WordPress implementation for a national membership community, translating Aeon Marketing’s supplied Photoshop design into a responsive public website and member-facing experience across desktop and mobile.

Sisters on the Fly is a membership-driven community built around travel, friendship, events, vintage trailers, outdoor experiences, and a distinctive visual identity.

Aeon Marketing supplied the original website design as a Photoshop mock-up. Michael handled the WordPress implementation and production build: reconstructing the supplied design as responsive HTML, CSS, and WordPress templates; establishing reusable visual patterns; building complete pages around the design language; integrating changing content; and ensuring the experience worked from wide desktop screens to narrow mobile devices.

The resulting site combined the character of the supplied design with the practical requirements of a large public website and an established membership community.

A Photoshop mock-up can define how a website should look at one particular size. A production website has to answer everything the mock-up cannot: how navigation collapses, how oversized headings behave on a phone, how product cards, news posts, newsletter forms, photography, calls to action, and member content fit within the same visual system, and how textured desktop compositions reorganize when there are only a few hundred pixels of horizontal space.

The implementation needed to faithfully reproduce Aeon Marketing’s supplied design in WordPress, extend its visual language across the complete site, preserve the distinctive typography, textures, imagery, and color relationships, support public and authenticated member experiences, and accommodate dynamic WordPress content rather than fixed Photoshop text and imagery.

Translating the Supplied Visual System

The supplied direction used weathered wood textures, warm natural surfaces, turquoise, deep plum, red accents, large decorative display typography, photography, and Western-inspired visual details. The implementation carried those elements throughout the production site instead of flattening them into a generic template.

Building the Complete Homepage

The homepage combined global navigation, a large member hero, login access, magazine promotion, membership guidelines, newsletter registration, trailer-focused content, product merchandising, news content, community messaging, calls to action, and an informational footer while preserving one coherent visual system.

Responsive Implementation

The mobile build required substantial reflow rather than a scaled-down desktop page. Navigation collapsed, multi-column sections became stacked flows, images were cropped and repositioned, product presentation was simplified, and newsletter, news, CTA, and footer content reorganized into a readable single-column experience.

Public Website Architecture

The implemented navigation supported renewals, members area access, events, store content, galleries, about pages, blog content, and activities, making the site the front door to a larger community platform rather than a single promotional landing page.

Member-Facing Interface Implementation

The supplied visual language was extended into authenticated screens including member search and member timeline interfaces. The redacted screenshots show how the public site’s colors, typography, textures, header, controls, and footer were carried into denser application-style pages.
