A conceptual portrait series with Kara Love built around the idea of a wood nymph or forest spirit displaced into the city. The finished work was later featured at Decode Gallery in Tucson.

Photographs built around nature trying to survive the city
The idea behind this series was a wood nymph trying to exist somewhere she does not quite belong. Instead of placing Kara in an idealized forest, I photographed her around rough concrete, masonry, railroad tracks, and other urban spaces, then brought pieces of the natural world into those environments.
Plants, flowers, butterflies, and Kara herself become the connection between those two worlds. Some of the photographs feel almost ordinary at first, while others push further into the surreal through compositing and added environmental details. The final series was featured at Decode Gallery in Tucson.
