A University of Arizona graduation session for Sara, celebrating the completion of her master's degree in business through the Eller College of Management. The shoot mixed traditional cap-and-gown portraits with a more relaxed set built around movement, personality, and the tree-covered campus setting.

About the shoot

Photographs built around the people in them

Sara’s graduation session was a smaller, more portrait-focused shoot. Rather than moving through a long list of campus landmarks, we used a shaded tree-covered walkway for a mix of traditional graduation photographs and more relaxed portraits.

Sara is also a former bodybuilder, so this milestone was one part of a larger personal story rather than the only thing defining the session. We photographed her in the graduation gown and cap, then opened the look up with her dress visible underneath, walking and turning poses, closer portraits, and a few celebratory frames with the cap raised.
